ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Charles Helm has been an avid outdoorsperson since his childhood in
South Africa. He qualified as a medical doctor in Cape Town in 1981,
moved to Canada in 1986, and settled in Tumbler Ridge in 1992.
He soon began to unearth the history of this then little known corner
of Canada and to explore its mountains and valleys. He was a founder
member of the Wolverine Nordic and Mountain Society in 1995 and has
been its Secretary since then.
Following the 2000 discovery of dinosaur tracks just below Tumbler
Ridge by his son and a friend, he was a founding member of the Tumbler
Ridge Museum Foundation, and has served on its executive ever since,
including two terms as President.
Charles lives in Tumbler Ridge with his wife Linda, son Daniel, and
daughter Carina, and continues to work as a family physician.
